Frederic Malle - Geranium Pour Monsieur

I belive that almost everyone that´s trying Frederic Malle´s Geranium Pour Monsieur for the first time says "Toothpaste!" when they first sniff it. And yes, you are greated by a onvious minty note when you first put it on. But, when the toothpaste note has settled you will discover other sides of this fragrance, at least I do.

The man behind this scent is Dominique Ropion and I think he has succed to create something both fresh, clean and modern in an amazing way. Geranium Pour Monsieur becomes much more complex and interesting on me then what I´m used to find in other clean and fresh scents. Honestly, I find Geranium Pour Monsieur almost as complex and interesting as the lovely Dans Tes Bras.

Geranium Pour Monsieur makes me think about a serene, deep and stunningly beautiful underwater world. A world in complete silence, but with viewer impressions so fascinating and strange you could as well be in outer space. In my imagination I can also smell this unique surroundings. The cold minty note would be the ocean itself, because it´s a very wet and big kind of mint. The geranium is aromatic with some warm elements and for me it´s the smell of gorgeous milky half see through jellyfish with sher veils and all different kinds of strange shapes like flowers, clouds and living popcorn. If jellyfishes was flowers maybe they would smell like Geranium Pour Monsieur?

There is also some woody and spicy notes in Geranium Pour Monsieur, showing up from time to time. On me the mint note is very longlasting, but on my husband it´s only last for a short while. I belive Geranium Pour Monsieur is quite different on each and everyone, just like the wonderful Dans Tes Bras.

Geranium Pour Monsieur is also suitable for women. It has good sillage and great lasting power. I appreciate it a lot becasue of it´s unique and complex character, but it´s really not my type og scent. It´s possible I´ll take a spray now and then when I want to visit the strange underwater world, but just like Dans Tes Bras it´s a demanding scent that need a lot of attention. Something I´m not always in the mood for.

It´s also nice with a scent where geranium is geranium and not only a cheaper substitute for rose. A lot of people not liking geranium note in rose scents will probably get a different view of geranium if they try this fragrance. Geranium Pour Monsieur is a must try for everyone looking for different, unique and well made scents.

My favorite perfume

The task is to write about "My favorite perfume", which seem easy enough maybe, but not for me. I have wondering about it a lot, but then an evening... why is that you always have inspiration, ideas and insightw when you´re about to sleep? Anyway, it was that evenigt I got the answer.


And the answer was in my heart, not in my sense of smell or in the memory bank in my brain where I have stored hundreds of masterpiece perfumes. Now, when I sit here and had put on some of my favorite perfume I can feel in my stomach that I´ve made the right choise.


To put on my favorite perfume is like meeting an old dear friend after a long time. To wear it is like reading that old favorite book for the tenth time and recognise every formulation, intrigue and mood in it. To smell my loved perfume lingering around my body, is like listening to old songs with Beatles or Patti Smith instead of something with Lady Gaga or Black Eyed Peas that are played constantly on the radio. To me, wearing it is like coming home...


There is no other perfume I´ve bought that many bottles of. Now I´ve soon finished my forth bottle of it, and I know I´ll start looking for the fifth bottle. My favorite perfume came to me when i was adult, I was stuying at the university and it was a good time in my life. But since then, I´ve been trough both good and hard times. But, my dear perfume is a mood lifter, I always feel a little bit more happy, more relaxed, more good looking and more adventurous when I wear it. It is one of a kind.


My dear old perfumes is the only one that I still use, like and appreciate among the perfumes that I used to wear before I become a perfume nerd. It has been with me through thick and thin and i hope it´ll hang around for many more years. Maybe my favorite perfume isn´t the most complex or interesting one, but I still love it.


It houses warm, sunriped, exotic, spicy scents as from an Indian market a hot day and still it manages to convey an adventourus, dark and sensual mystique as from a grand party in the palace of a wealthy maharadja. With it´s richness of juicy fruits, exciting and unexpected spices, among others also note of licorice, tropical almost stunning flowers and extremly rich, sensual and saturated base note of vanilla, amber and patchouli you might belive this scent is for winter wear only. But, I like to wear my favorite perfume at warm summer evenings as well. It fits me like a match made in heaven.


My darling scent ahs been with me since 1996. It was created by the talented Dominique Ropion (that also have created several other favorites such as Alien, Carnal Flower and Anglomania). My favorite perfume is Kenzo´s Jungle L'Elephant. Which is your favorite perfume?

Ego Facto - Poopoo Pidoo and Prends Garde A Toi

I´ve got thistles in my flower bed. And I like them. Globe thistles and sea-holly are a futuristic and exiting companion to dahlias and lilies.

I have tried two perfumes from the new french perfume house of Ego Facto (I realise that I written much about new perfume houses lately, but I promise I will take on something slightly older soon).

Maybe it´s just a funny and humoristic touch to it. The perfumes are not at all barbie style (if barbie style would be something childish) .

At first I tought I would write only about Poopoo Pidoo wich is a soft, comfy and fluffy perfume. The kind of perfume that smells sweet and nice at the first, second and third sniff, but then it starts to evolve. As you figure out by now, I´ve got a weak spot for pleasant, powdery perfumes that hide something animalic and erotic under the pleasing surface. Poopoo Pidoo is doing really good in that genre. Dominique Ropion (Carnal Flower, Une Fleur de Cassie, Alien and Kenzo Jungle l'Elephant) is behind Poopoo Pidoo, so it isn´t much to ask for something a little extra? At first there is notes of orange blossom and after a while there is rice powder and it was about here I started to get really interested. Something about it remind me of something else that I really, really like but I can´t figure out what it is. Happy and content I sniff the pleasant scent, just to realise that the real exiting notes comes to play now. A leathery, animalic musk joins in. Well, at least it got me!

I happens to have tried several powdery, fluffy perfumes with something completly different under the surface. Something raw, animalic and erotic, so Poopoo Pidoo is in excellent company. In my opinion not quite in the top, but not at all far behind. Even tough it remind of something else, Poopoo Pidoo still got a very unique character. And the best thing is that Poopoo Pidoo is so very longlasting. The warm and musky basenotes is there for hours, at least 10-12 hours I can smell it at my skin. I can´t remember any other perfume in that category with as good longvity. And the sillage is pretty good also. Well, everyone with a likening of powdery, sensual and surprising perfumes should give it a try.

Poopoo Pidoo is so good, that I didn´t give the other sample, Prends Garde À Toi much notice. I tested it once and it was very, very green and would be suitable for those who can carry off heavy, saturated and also brisk scents. Yesterday evening I did it agian. Happened to spray on Prends Garde À Toi instead of Poopoo Pidoo. Well, I have to put up with it I tought.

And well, am I gald I did? Prends Garde À Toi take me for a really intriguing olfactory trip. The green notes started to change, they darkened and wrapped me in. Almost blackish green greenery smelled on my wrist and smelled a lot. There isn´t anything careful about it. For some reason it make me think about Snowwhite´s evil step mother. I become aware of an evil castle built with winding and dangerous thistles and nettles, a castle where the evil queen lived. You realise, you have to be in quite a mood to pull Prends Garde À Toi off...! After a while it´s softens up, but just a little, it keep it´s strong, green character until the end. Honestly, Prends Garde À Toi isn´t really my kind of scent, but if Bandit is among you favourites, you must give this a try! I am sure it would suit my husband just fine, I consider it to be an unisex. Buy the way, if Poopoo Pidoo is lon-lived, Prends Garde À Toi also is, when I wake up this morning some lovely velvety green notes of soft moss still remain.

Unfortunatly Ego Facto´s perfumes aren´t available outside France yet. They are only sold at Marionnaud. But I do hope they become available outside France soon, because I am so curious about the rest of the perfumes ("Fool for Love", "Me, Myself and I", "Sacre Coeur", "Piege À Filles" and "Jamais Le Domanche").

I do love to live here in our little house, but sometimes I dream about moving to France, I guess the life for a perfumista is much easier there.
